Verne Doctor’s lacrosse career began in 1962 at Lafayette High School where he started at attack for four years for legendary coaches Ket Weist, Sam Papa and Gordie Ohstrom. Gordie once said, “Verne demonstrates the unassuming drive found in all great athletes.” He also earned all-county honors in football and basketball while scoring 106 goals as an All-American stickman.

On to Syracuse. Three years (1967 – ’69) as a starter; team captain as a senior; All-American honors his sophomore and junior years; player in the 1969 North – South game.

His coaching career started at Bishop Ludden High School where he tutored attack, defense and goalies.

Verne played for the Syracuse Warriors Box Lacrosse team and served as Executive Director of the Iroquois Nationals from 2003 to 2006.

Verne is a retired Sheriffs Dept. Detective. He has served many years as the unofficial liaison between Onondaga County and the Onondaga Nation.
