Jeff Klodzen is a graduate of West Genesee High School where he was a defensive standout and a key member of the 1985 undefeated (23-0) lacrosse team. That team finished the season by winning the NYSPHSAA State Lacrosse Championship.
From high school, Jeff enrolled at SUNY Cortland where he continued his education and lacrosse career. He was selected a three-time NCAA All-American defenseman at Cortland as well as being named the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player and Red Letter Award Winner. Jeff was also selected as a participant on the 1990 North-South College All-Star team.
Jeff was an outstanding defenseman for the Mount Washington Lacrosse Club that won 3 US Club Lacrosse Association national championships during his tenure as a player. He received numerous honors and awards for his defensive play as a Club member.
Jeff played professional lacrosse for 10 years in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) with three different teams. He played for 5 years with the Baltimore Thunder where in 1997-98 he was the team’s leading scorer and selected to the league’s All-Pro team. He was honored in 1997-98 with the Baltimore Thunder’s “6th Man Award” which was given for his outstanding athletic and community contributions.
He played for 3 years with the Pittsburgh Bulls and 2 years with the Syracuse Smash. In 1999-2000 Jeff was selected by his peers to play in the NLL All-Star game that was held in Rochester, NY. He was also selected on two separate occasions by US Lacrosse to participate in the US National Team tryouts.
Jeff played in 108 NLL games, scoring 85 goals and contributing 114 assists. Not too bad for a guy who began his lacrosse career as a defenseman!
