Outside the world of lacrosse, few sports fans know much about Salisbury State University. It’s a different story for lacrosse people. W all are aware of Salisbury’s Division III league success, and we remember one of their brightest stars, Jason Coffman.
Jason enrolled at Salisbury following a superb high school career at Carthage, New York from 1990 to 1992. He was a Section III All-American his senior year.
At Salisbury, this attackman earned All-American honors each of his four years, 1993 – 96. He won the Jack Turnbull Award three years in a row and was twice names D-III Player of the Year.
His 451 career points stand as an NCAA record for all divisions. In four years, Jason’s team won 60 times and lost just twice. They were National D-III Champions in 1994 and 95.
As a coach, Jason’s career has taken him to Cornell, St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Now he teaches physical education, coaches JV lacrosse and football at Carthage.
