Guess what. There is a lacrosse coach with a mission statement. “To create opportunities for kids by exposing them to lifetime activities and experiences that usually come from their connection with the game of lacrosse”.
The coach is Doug Rowe, a coaching legend of the game. His formal education began at Baldwinsville High School and continued at Herkimer Community College, SUNY Brockport, and Cortland State, where he earned his New York State Certification and a Masters degree. He played lacrosse at B’ville, Herkimer, and Brockport.
Since 1991, Doug has taught and coached girls lacrosse at Baldwinsville and has enjoyed success each and every year. He’s coached toddlers, preteens, and teenagers at school and at his camps. He put together the famous Star-Spangled Girls Tournament in 1993 and still runs and grows it.
Through the years, Doug’s coaching record is 318 wins and 94 losses, a 77.2% win percentage. His teams have brought home a State Championship, a runner-up title, Section III Championships, 16 years in the top 15 state rankings and 21 years of winning the State Scholar Athlete Team Award. Twenty-two of his players have been All-Americans.
Doug is especially proud that 82% of his players have gone on to play the game in college. Two of his girls, Chris Lindsey and Britney Scott, earned World Cup medals. Doug has taken teams on trips up and down the East Coast, Colorado, California, and England.
Doug married Royetta in 1988 and has two daughters, Brittney and Megan.
