By the time Casey Powell finished high school in Carthage, NY, he had earned more honors than most lacrosse players win in a lifetime. Twice All-North player of the year; twice on Empire Games Central team; twice HS All-American. And many more! As national all-time leader in schoring with 292 goals and 261 assists, he won 1994’s CNY Player of the Year honors.
On to Piety Hill and Part 2 of Casey’s amazing career. All-American all four years, Enners, Turnbull and McLaughlin Awards on one of the nation’s storied college teams, the Syracuse Orangemen.
Casey was an obvious professional prospect and he began burning up the NLL with the Long Island Lizards, leading the team to its first-ever league championship in 2001 and again two years later.
Traded to the Rochester Rattlers, Casey continued to dominate the league. In 2005, he scored 27 goals and 30 assists. 2007 saw him named NLL’s Player of the Year.
Moving to the MLL, Casey plied his skills, his courage and his determination for the league’s teams in Rochester, Buffalo, Anaheim and New York City. He’s earned All-star status in each city.
Casey Powell, truly a legend of the game, is now a member of the Hamilton Nationals.
