Whenever people talk about Girls Lacrosse, the name Bob Elmer will surely enter the conversation. He’s become another lax legend from West Genesee, another great Wildcat coach.
Bob graduated from West Genny in 1980 and from Cortland State four years later. He wrestled there and went on to coach wrestling at Fowler High in Syracuse for nine years. He also coached JV soccer at West Genesee for 20 years and never had a losing season. After having four daughters, Bob made the switch to girls sports in 2000 and has mentored the Lady Wildcats ever since.
His teams have all been winners, and have earned several championships. They have compiled a 278-22 record, won a dozen league titles, nine sectional titles, nine regional titles, six state titles and a national championship. Bob has been CNY Coach of the Year five times. He’s had seven Players of the Year, thirty High School All-Americans and 114 girls who played college lacrosse, Bob’s teams have produced win streaks of 69 games (2001-2004) and 52 games (2007-2009).
